A Tale of Two Presidencies: Why the Contrast Is Even Clearer Today – The Premier Online Magazine for Black Men

A newly processed archival collection released through federal records channels has brought fresh historical visibility to the transition of power on January 20, 2017, offering a detailed visual chronicle of the final hours of the Barack Obama administration and the arrival of incoming President Donald Trump at the White House.

The extensive visual portfolio was made publicly accessible through the Barack Obama Presidential Library, operating under the administrative oversight of the National Archives and Records Administration, rather than through an administrative disclosure by the current White House. According to official library finding aids, the newly unsealed archival collection comprises 701 distinct photographic images and four video recordings documenting internal executive residence operations on the final morning of Obama’s presidency. Of the total photographic inventory, 700 images have been fully disclosed, while a single photograph remains restricted under statutory provisions following requests processed through the Freedom of Information Act.
