We Will Immediately Begin Prosecuting' - U.S. Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro Drops Bombshell On Nation's Capital Tonight

Washington, D.C. - June 10, 2026

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced Friday that her office will begin aggressively prosecuting parents whose minor children participate in disruptive “teen takeovers” and violate curfew laws. The move marks a significant escalation in federal efforts to address recurring youth gatherings that have raised public safety concerns in parts of the nation’s capital.

Pirro stated that parental accountability has been missing from previous discussions about the incidents. “Parental involvement has been a noted gap in any discussion about teen takeovers,” she said. “That ends today.”

Parents Face Criminal Liability Under Existing Law

Pirro said prosecutors will target parents under laws prohibiting contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The statute makes it unlawful for an adult to enable, facilitate, or permit a minor to engage in delinquent acts, with penalties of up to six months in prison.
